The 2024-25 California state budget proposal released by the Newsom Administration in January eliminates the $18.8 million ongoing investment in the Supervised Independent Living Placement (SILP) Housing Supplement. 

The SILP Housing Supplement, which will take effect in 2025, will provide more than 3,000 youth in foster care age 18-20 with additional funding to help them afford housing. This fact sheet provides more information about the funding and its proposed elimination.
