California Foster Youth Tax Credit: What is it and how do you get it?

If you were 18-25 years old on December 31, 2023 and were in foster care until at least age 13, you may be eligible for the new California Foster Youth Tax Credit, worth up to $1,117 in cash!

MAKE SURE YOU RECEIVE EVERY DOLLAR YOU’RE OWED. In addition to the Foster Youth Tax Credit, you may also be eligible for other credits. In 2023, current and former foster youth who filed their taxes received an average of $1,906 from filing if they had no children, and $5,343 if they had children.
