22-year-old Taneil Franklin was born in Modesto, CA, and raised in Los Angeles,California. She is currently studying political science at Los Angeles Trade Technical College with the hope to transfer to Howard University in Washington, D.C. Taneil started her youth advocacy career in 2019 with the Alliance for Children Rights as a Young Leader before being promoted to a Building Ecosystem for Youth Opportunity (BEYO) Intern. She has advocated on many issues related to her lived experience in foster care, including higher education and mental health. She has also spoken at a variety of state and national conferences, such as the National Homeless Alliance, NextUp, and Opportunity Youth Forum.
John Burton Advocates for Youth improves the quality of life for youth in California who have been in foster care or homeless by advocating for better laws, training communities to strengthen local practices and conducting research to inform policy solutions.
