Maegan is a project manager with the education team at John Burton Advocates for Youth where she supports efforts to improve postsecondary outcomes for youth in foster care and youth experiencing homelessness.
Maegan has spent the last ten years in the field of child welfare, starting as a social worker at the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) before moving on to lead programming for foster youth at Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) programs in Los Angeles and Marin County.
She earned her B.S. in Psychology at the University of California, San Diego and her Master’s in Social Welfare (MSW) with an emphasis in Child Welfare and Organizations, Communities and Policy Settings from UCLA. Maegan was born and raised in Los Angeles.
John Burton Advocates for Youth improves the quality of life for youth in California who have been in foster care or homeless by advocating for better laws, training communities to strengthen local practices and conducting research to inform policy solutions.
