Please join John Burton Advocates for Youth on May 25th from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. for a webinar highlighting the progress of the Homekey program in addressing youth homelessness at the close of round two. Administered by the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD), the second round of Homekey was funded with $1.45 billion for local public entities to create permanent or interim housing for persons experiencing homelessness. Homekey includes a youth set-aside, requiring 8% ($116 million) of overall funding be used to serve youth experiencing homelessness.
The webinar will spotlight two youth projects that have successfully been awarded Homekey funding: Mesa Ojai in Ventura County and Valley Lodge Apartments in Napa County. Representatives from each group will detail how their projects came together and what future programming is in store. A representative from HCD will discuss how youth have been prioritized throughout the second round of Homekey awards, and JBAY will provide resources for those interested in applying for Homekey round three, which will open later this year.
